FOR CONSULTANTS
And SOLUTION PROVIDERS.
For founders who built the firm and became the bottleneck.

SOUND FAMILIAR?
A thinking partner who has sat inside nonprofit consulting and SAAS firms, not as a client but as the person running the operations, and can tell you exactly where the margin is going before she ever looks at your books.
Every organization we work with has hit this moment. The ones that move through it are the ones that stopped trying to be the system and started building something that holds.
How we work.
Four moves created with lots and lots of trial and error. Almost every operations engagement in this sector starts at the second move, because building looks like progress and cutting looks like nothing happened, so the new database goes in on top of the old mess, the mess comes along with it, and eighteen months later somebody decides the database never worked. We edit first because we spent years watching it happen the other way and seeing fundraising suffer.

Nine Systems. Three Groups.
The sequence runs across nine systems, in three groups. People, meaning arrivals, exits, and ownership. Tools, meaning your CRM, project management, and AI workflows. Guides, meaning SOPs, reporting, and content planning. Those nine are where the four sentences above come from, and any one of them can be the reason the other eight feel heavy.

The 2026 Consulting Almanac, at a glance.
In the spring of 2026, 86 independent consultants answered a survey about the operational side of their practices. This report summarizes what they said and the opportunity in growing their practices and impact.

THE OPERATIONS MIRROR.
See where your practice lands against 86 independent consultants. Six quick questions. No email required to see your result.
Carrying it alone
You are in the group most of the 86 are in, and you are carrying more than a system should ask of one person. Seventy-one of the 86 respondents handle all operational work themselves. You are not behind. You are early in a pattern that is extremely common in this field, and the data says the delivery core almost always holds even here. The growth that is not happening yet is delayed, not lost.
Steady, and quietly stuck
This is where the largest group in the survey lands. Fifty of 86 describe their operations as working okay. Fifty-two describe themselves as keeping up. Steady is a real accomplishment, most small practices never reach it, and it is also the state that never generates its own reason to move. If that sounds familiar, you are not alone in it. You are in the majority.
Ahead of most of the sample
You have built more structure than most of the 86 report having. That puts you ahead of the median, and it also means the next gap you hit will likely be a different kind than the one most consultants describe, less about survival, more about scale.
Operationally ahead
Very few respondents in the full survey land here, only two of 86 described their approach as working very well. You have built something most of this field has not. Worth naming what you did differently, because it is rare.
Go one layer deeper with a Practice Diagnostic.
The assessment gives you a stage for each of the nine systems. The Nonprofit Systems Diagnostic tells you what those stages mean together.

The assessment gives you a stage for each of the nine systems. The Consulting Practice Diagnostic tells you what those stages mean together. A short survey about how the practice actually runs today, a forty five minute call, and a written report naming what is costing you and what to fix first.
- The survey. Surfaces where your systems are actually costing you, across people, tools, and guides.
- The call. A real conversation about what the survey shows and guided questions around what you need.
- The report. Specific suggestions, written down, organized by which system to fix first.
WHAT WE SOLVE FOR CONSULTANTS and Providers.
THE Next Step.
This is not about adding more. It is about removing the systems failures that cost you donors, exhaust your gift officers, and make your campaigns land smaller than they should. A cross-functional workflow your team can run without you. Reports that exist when the board asks. A way of working that does not depend on three people remembering. The assessment shows you where the systems stand. A conversation is where you decide what to do about the one costing you most.
