PRACTICE BOTTLENECK Diagnostic

Find the one thing capping the firm, and leave with the steps to clear it.

You know something in your practice is not quite working. It does not show up as a lost client or a missed deadline. It shows up in the growth that keeps not happening, in the hours that go to keeping up instead of moving forward. You feel it before you can name it. This is what the diagnostic gives you: the thing you already sense, put into words you can act on.

You have probably said one of these out loud.

  • The revenue is there and the margin is not, and I cannot see where it went.
  • I brought someone on and the firm still runs through me.
  • I have a number I need to hit next year and no way to deliver at that volume.
  • Every client kickoff still runs through me because nobody else knows how.

How the session runs.

You answer a short survey about how the firm actually runs today, from delivery to client management to the work only you can do. I read it before you show up. From there you get a written brief that names what is capping you and what to do about it, in order.

What you get.

  • The survey. About ten minutes on how the practice actually runs today.
  • The call. Forty five minutes on the bottleneck itself, because I have already read your survey.
  • The Bottleneck Brief. Five to seven pages, in your hands within five business days, as an attachment you can forward.

What is in the Brief.

  • Top issues. What is costing you, named plainly, in order of what it is costing.
  • Action steps. What to do, in sequence. The first one is written so you could start it Monday.
  • Recommended outcomes. What each step should produce, so you can tell whether it worked rather than whether it happened.
  • Benchmarks. How to check yourself in ninety days without me in the room.

What eighty six consultants told us.

Seventy one of the eighty six independent consultants we surveyed this spring handle all of their operational work themselves. Fifty describe their operations as working okay. Not one turns first to outside help when something breaks. Okay is a real accomplishment and it is also the state that never produces its own reason to change.

Where this stops.

This locates the bottleneck and tells you what to do about it. It does not build the system and it does not run it. When you are ready to put the findings into motion, the Infrastructure Build takes it from there.

Your investment.

$599. Survey, forty five minute call, written report with suggestions. You will leave with everything you need to take the next step, with your team or with me.

Your diagnostic fee applies toward a larger engagement if you book one within two weeks of your session. That applies to a Fundraising Operations Audit, an Infrastructure Build, or an Operational Transition.
